Research

The SCiM group advances materials science and engineering research in cement chemistry, concrete technology, and construction methods to drive innovation in low-carbon solutions.

Our mission is to expand scientific and technological knowledge that supports the decarbonization of the cement and concrete industries, enhances the resilience and long-term performance of the built environment, and fosters sustainable development in California, the nation, and worldwide.

Our Partners & Support

The SCiM Laboratory at UC Berkeley is deeply grateful to the federal, industrial, and professional organizations whose generous support drives our research and empowers our students and scientists.

We are also proud members of INNOVANDI, the Global Cement and Concrete Research Network (GCCRN) managed by the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA). This partnership opens up exciting avenues for funding collaborative research projects and supporting incoming scientists who wish to pursue their studies within our group through its Postdoctoral fellowship.
